SEO Basics 102

Standard content based websites have different rules to flash only or graphic intensive websites and the next most important SEO rule for a web page is the H1 heading tag.
What is your website about?
Use the H1, H2 and H3 tags. Use bold where relevant and when you want to emphasize something or want to make it stand out, make the page pleasurable to read and easy to understand and navigate, limit (or do not) use Javascript in links or popup windows and avoid using ASP systems that generate links dynamically from the session id or randomly as these links cannot be followed.
Speaking of following links, use the rel='nofollow' tag where you have people submitting comments or when you have a contact us or any such link that you do not want a search engine to follow.
You can also use a robots.txt file to guide the spiders where they must not index.
