to Video or not to Video

By now you have probably heard that if you do not have videos on your web page in 2009 you will be at the bottom of all SERPS.
Bull dust!
For search engines to be successful they have to match search requests with information that will satisfy the searcher. Search Engines that do not do this have become obsolete.. And even if you are the mighty (and well loved :) ) GOOGLE - You still have to satisfy your demanding users.
The early adoption of video content just for the sake of having video content is in my humble opinion, an incorrect knee jerk reaction to some fairly easy SERP rankings for competitor sites rated highly due to higher value being currently awarded to video content pages.
Search Engines will soon realise that VIDEO SPAM is the next growing phenom and they will have to find an optimal balance between useless, over duplicated (or mass syndicated) or just plain rubbish and all the other problems soon to be associated with video, due to the nature of the media itself.
By all means, if you have decent, original and useful video content go right ahead and serve it up. BUT please do not go and create useless content just for the sake of SERPS. This will be short sighted as today's hot value add will shortly be next years high penalties...
I saw a slide show of someone's sitemap today, (wow what a waste of bandwidth) apparently their SEO told them that if they did not have lots of video their website will be dead. Yeah right.
